    @Schräg

    Teil 2.

    20. How can I keep the music playing in the car when I am no longer inside?

As soon as the driver unbuckles and leaves the vehicle, the ignition automatically switches off. To turn the ignition back on, the key can be placed in the car and the ignition can be turned on using the start/stop- button on the steering column.
    NEW

    21. How secure is the vehicle against cyber-attacks?

Data security is a top priority for Volkswagen. All the systems comply with legal requirements and are continuously improved to make manipulations more difficult or prevent them.

    Charging & Battery

    NEW

    1. Why does my vehicle show me less range than it should, although it is fully charged?

The range indicator is based on your driving style and is calculated dynamically. Adopting the right driving style can reduce consumption, damage to the environment, and wear and tear to the electric drive, brakes and tyres.
Tips on how to increase your range can be found in the owner’s manual under the chapter "Driving Economically".
    NEW

    2. What does the km/h or km/min display mean during the charging process?

This shows how many kilometers of range the vehicle receives per hour (per minute) during charging. The display varies depending on the charging power.

    3. What is the maximum charging power when using AC?
The charger in the ID.3 1st, which converts the alternating current from the charging port into direct current for charging the high-voltage battery, is designed for a charging capacity of up to 11 kW.

    4. Is bidirectional charging possible or retrofittable?
Currently bidirectional charging is not possible. A later availability is under consideration.

    5. Does the ID.3 have a safety measure against DC faults (DC fault current) circuit breaker FI type B?
The ID.3 has a safety measure against DC faults. By this a possible backflow of DC faults into your domestic electricity system is prevented while charging.

    6. What happens with the HV battery at the end of its lifespan?
All ID. models are designed for a long service life, similar to today's vehicles with conventional drives. The battery of each vehicle will be checked at the end of its lifespan according to the following criteria:
    · Is it still usable?
    · Will the battery continue to be used, for instance, as stationary energy store? If not, is it recycled?
We are currently developing a recycling concept in which the battery is dismantled, crushed and then prepared to further optimise the recycling. The aim is a maximally resource-saving and economic recycling process at the same time.

    7. Does the performance of the battery decrease in cold weather?
The performance of the battery is reduced in cold weather. The optimal operating range of the high-voltage battery is between 20 and 40 degrees Celsius. To ensure this optimal efficiency, the battery provides a heating and a ventilation.
The aim is to operate the battery at the optimum operating point by using suitable controls.
    NEW

    8. What is the warranty on the HV battery?

We give the purchasers a guarantee that the usable capacity of the battery will not fall below 70% in the first eight years (or up to 160.000 kilometers, whichever comes first) when used correctly.
    NEW

    9. Where can I charge with the We Charge card?

You can charge with the We Charge Card at more than 150.000 (and counting) charging points in Europe including Ionity, Innogy, EnBW, Allego etc..
The list of available charging stations can be viewed in the We Connect ID. app.

    10. What happens if the ID.3 has to drive through or is parked in a flood?
The ID.3 behaves like conventional cars. The battery is sealed against water intrusion.

    We Connect ID. App

    1. What to do, when the car is overriding the temperature set in the We Connect ID. app to “LO”?
The stationary air conditioning can be adjusted via the app or the infotainment system. It can only be activated when the vehicle is stationary. When the vehicle is turned on, the regular air conditioning system takes over with the temperature that has previously been set.
    NEW

    2. Can I add the same vehicle to different Volkswagen IDs and manage the vehicle from multiple devices?

The use of multiple profiles will only be possible after the Q1/2021 update.

    3. What to do, when you are not able to activate the online services license in the We Connect ID. app?
Thanks to Juan Vaz for his solution:
I had the same problem in Sweden and before I got my Max. I could fix it by deleting the app and reinstalling it via AppStore. It works now even if some functions are not available yet.”
    NEW

    4. How can I see my still available First Movers charging credit in the We Connect ID. app?

Currently this function is not available in the app. In the charging history you can see that the charging process has not cost anything. The remaining available credit can be seen in the monthly billing.
    NEW

    5. Why have I received a bill from We Charge even though I am a First Mover?

When activating the card, it is important that the tariff We Charge Plus is selected. Activation takes place in the app as part of ‘vehicle enrolment’ and includes the conclusion of a contract for the We Charge Plus special plan with the provider. You require access to the vehicle for activation. Once activated, the charging credit is linked to the app.

    6. Information regarding technical issue We Connect ID. app and CUBIC
Due to a technical issue, you were given the option to purchase data packages from Cubic, which cannot be used in your vehicle at the moment. We apologize for any inconvenience. In the beginning of 2021, Volkswagen will offer a software update for your ID.3 1st. After that you are able to use the data plan for various functions.
If you have already purchased a package, please contact customer service (we-support@volkswagen.de).
    NEW

    7. Why can I sometimes not see any charging stations in the app, although I can still pay at those with the We Charge card?

We receive the data of the charging stations via the POI-Management database and these are displayed in the frontends according to filters. If charging stations are not displayed correctly, you would first have to check how the filter was set. If a charging station that can be used does not appear despite a correctly set filter, it is probably due to an error in the database. In this case the support should be informed about it, so that the facts can be checked further. This would be an important feedback for us.
    NEW

    8. Where can I report incorrect or missing charging points?

We are working on a solution within the We Connect ID. app. Until the release, please feel free to report the affected or missing charging points to the following email address, including
    · the exact address
    · the charging point operator as shown
    · a reason why it’s not working in case of unavailable charging points (e.g. private property, defect, non-existent, ...)
    Email: 57fdcbca.volkswagengroup.onmicrosoft.com@emea.teams.ms

    Miscellaneous

    1. How are the factories where the ID.3 is produced powered?
Our basic principle for the production of the ID.3 in Zwickau is: Avoid the formation of CO₂ first, if possible, reduce it in the next step. The factory Zwickau is using only certified “Volkswagen Naturstrom” from regenerative sources. In addition, a block heating plant comes along with force heat coupling, In the long term this block heating plant will be powered with CO2-neutral gas. In addition to this, all buildings are energy-optimized on an ongoing basis. So, the current need of water and heat is reduced permanently.

    2. Does Volkswagen ID. plan to offer insurances for the ID.3 similar to what Tesla is doing in California?
Our partners for insurance products differ from country to country. Though they are not a product provided by Volkswagen, you may find links to country-specific offers on your local Volkswagen website.
    NEW

    3. Why have I not received a welcome box yet?

If you are from France and Italy, then the "Get Ready" box is delivered together with the ID.3 1st.

    4. Is there a danger of a marten being able to get into the engine compartment of the ID.3 or is the vehicle well sealed off?
In terms of susceptibility to marten bites, the ID.3 is no different from conventionally powered vehicles. For technical reasons, it is not possible to construct the engine compartment to be "marten-proof", as the wheels and axle parts require freedom of movement (wheel angle when cornering, rebound and rebound travel on uneven surfaces etc.).

    ==> ID.3 Tipps und Tricks / FAQ <==

    Some Notes:

    • We are creating a backlog by tracking your open questions. You can help us to expand the list by leaving your questions in this post as comments or post it on the “main page” as usual – thank you for your support!
    • Some of you have reported vehicle and app related bugs to us. Rest assured, we take this seriously and forward them to our experts
    • Not every question is “Yes or No”, so sometimes we need some time to ask our internal colleagues to find the right answer
    • Some aspects of your car and the We Connect ID. app differ from country to country – so in some cases we must ask you to get in contact with your market
    • The We Connect ID. app will get more and more features over time!
    • There is no difference between the model years 2020 and 2021
    • Sometimes your answers are so good that we couldn't have written it better ourselves [Blockierte Grafik: https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/tce/1/18/1f642.png]:)
    • For most of the minor bugs there is a simple workaround until the first update: restart the infotainment system or leave the ID.3 and leave it locked for roughly 15 minutes
    • You may find these “Tips & Tricks” in other forums; please note that only the version that can be found in this Facebook group is valid

    Troubleshooting

    1. What to do if the infotainment system freezes?
In the ICAS-3 (central infotainment computer) there are software mechanisms that restart the system in the event of a "broken" application. If this restart mechanism does not work, there is the possibility of restarting the infotainment system by holding the power on / off button on the touch slider of the center display for 15 seconds. Please do not restart the system while driving, but in a safe environment. Please note that the vehicles may differ in different regions.
    NEW

    2. What to do if I get error messages on the display (range cannot be displayed, error with the sensor etc.)?

If this problem only occurs occasionally, we recommend proceeding as follows:
Parking and locking of the vehicle for approx. 10 minutes (or overnight). Unlocking the vehicle and restarting the infotainment system after that time, the usual data should be displayed again.
If the problem is still not solved or occurs very often, please contact your dealer.

    3. What to do if I am not able to lock or unlock the vehicle?
There is probability that the vehicle is not able to recognize the key anymore. In order to solve this, take the spare key out of the vehicle key. Open your ID.3 using the spare key. Put your vehicle key into the cup holder compartment and wait for about half a minute. The vehicle should identify your vehicle key.
Instruction to take the spare key out of the vehicle key:
    1. Press the release button briefly. The keyring folds open.
    2. Press the release button and pull the spare key out in the direction of the arrow.
    3. Spare key. 4. What to do if the rear-view camera does not work properly?

If this problem only occurs occasionally, we recommend proceeding as follows:
Parking and locking of the vehicle for approx. 10 minutes (or overnight). Unlocking the vehicle and restarting the infotainment system after that time, the rear-view camera should work properly.
If the problem is still not solved or occurs very often, please contact your dealer.

    5. How can a locked charging connector be released?
Either via the unlock button on the key (double-press) or inside the vehicle on the driver door panel.
More information can be found in the owner´s manual under chapter "Charging the high-voltage battery".

    Vehicle

    1. Why does the HMI (Infotainment) “ask” me if I want to drive in online or offline mode?
It's a mandatory feature by European data privacy law - in the future you can select different user profiles and pre-select to be always on.

    2. After how many kilometers is a service due?
The maintenance cycle for the ID.3 is 2 years. There is no mileage limit for Europe.
    NEW

    3. What is the so called “Vehicle Wallet”?

The “Vehicle Wallet” is another term for the “Owner´s Manual” which can be found in the glove compartment of the vehicle.
    NEW

    4. How can I view the software version of my infotainment system?

You can information about your system and navigation database in the center display under “Settings -> System information”.
    NEW

    5. Why doesn´t the outside mirror lower automatically although I am in reverse?

To lower the outside mirrors, it is important that the rotary switch for mirror adjustment is set to "R". Note that automatic lowering of the outside mirror is not available in all versions of the ID.3 1st.

    6. Does the ID.3 1st have a tow bar?
No, but a preparation for a bicycle carrier can be retrofitted. The retrofit option will be available for all ID.3 versions, including ID.3 1st, except the ones with the 77 kWh battery. Additional information on availability will be added soon. Only bicycle carriers that have been approved by Volkswagen for your vehicle must be used.
Please note that if it is a leased vehicle, the retrofitting must be agreed with your lessor.
    NEW

    7. Is it possible to retrofit wireless charging in vehicles without this functionality?

Wireless charging is not offered as a retrofit by Volkswagen.
    NEW

    8. Is it possible to switch on the interior lighting when the vehicle is stationary?

If the ignition is switched off, the car takes power from all the interior lighting after 30 seconds. The ignition is switched off when the electronic parking brake “P” is engaged, and the seat belt is released. There are two options to keep the lights on anyway:
    1. Remain fastened when the electronic parking brake “P” is engaged
    2. Switch on the ignition again manually using the ignition starter button behind the steering wheel

    9. Can my ID.3 create a Wi-Fi hotspot with its built-in SIM-Card (eSIM)?
This functionality will be available after the update.

    10. Which provider is the eSIM in the car actually using?
The eSIM is working with several providers depending on your location to make sure you get the best coverage all over Europe.

    11. Recuperation sometimes feels less effective - What’s the idea behind the ID.3’s recuperation concept?
We opted for a more comfortable recuperation mode, as the feeling of fully electric driving is new to many of our customers. The most efficient way to move an electric car is in "sailing mode", which is automatically activated in the ID.3 in gear “D”. On top, the ID.3 has installed various systems that provide additional recuperation depending on the driving situation.

    12. Drum brakes? Really?
The ID.3 has disk brakes on the front axle and drum brakes at the rear axle. E-vehicles have the advantage of covering most of the braking force by recuperation (engine brake). On the one hand, the vehicle will reduce speed while recuperating and on the other hand, energy will be gained for charging the battery. In addition, the drum brakes benefit from better protection against corrosion (closed system) and from the reduction of particulate pollution, since the brake dust does not escape.

    13. What are the system boundaries for the ACC?
The partially optional driver assistance systems in the MEB support the driver within defined system boundaries. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) covers the maximum speed of the MEB and can automatically adapt the speed to recognised speed limits and the route (e.g. curves). Bad weather and/or dirt can influence, however, the sensor view. As with all assistance systems according to SAE level 2, it is the driver's responsibility to monitor the traffic and to intervene at any time by taking corrective actions, if necessary. Speed and driving style should therefore always be adapted to the sight, weather as well as road surface conditions and to the traffic.
    NEW

    14. What is the effect of setting the chassis to "Sport" mode?

The adjustment controls the electronic differential lock. Minor braking inventions performed on individual wheels have a considerable impact on the self-steering effect of the running gear. The driving and steering performance becomes significantly more precise and stable.
    NEW

    15. Why does entering postal codes in the navigation system sometimes not deliver the desired results?

The direct input of Extended Postal Codes is only possible within a certain radius. If the direct input of Extended Postal Codes is not delivering desired results, please enter the corresponding city in your search query. The same applies to the input of street names and house numbers.
    NEW

    16. How is the navigation database in the vehicle updated?

This process takes place automatically. It is important that the vehicle is in online mode. Updating map material is free of charge for you.

    17. Why is a coolant circuit required?
The coolant circuit is needed, since there are various temperature-developing components in the vehicle, for instance, due to higher stress or warmer regions, that have to be cooled for reasons of lifespan. One of these components is the battery.

    18. Is it possible to connect external data storage devices to my ID.3 1st?
Yes! Please note, depending on the Infotainment system used, external hard disks with a capacity greater than 32 GB sometimes need to be reformatted for the FAT32 file system.
Nice to know: If more than 100,000 titles are provided to ICAS, only the first 100,000 titles will be read and made available, which will take a correspondingly long time. This applies to all media sources together! So if several USB devices are connected, a total of 100,000 will be displayed, no matter which source they are on.
