On certain ID. vehicles of a limited production period high-voltage batteries were fitted in which individual battery cells may exhibit a production fault. Specifically it is the weld between the sensor module (Sensing Module Assembly Terminal) and the bus bar that is affected. This connection may be outside of the specifications. A faulty weld can cause an intermittently increased contact resistance or short-term contact loss. As a result, the battery management detects implausible cell voltages. As a result, corresponding event entries are logged in the event memory and a yellow or red high-voltage warning lamp is shown in the instrument cluster. In individual cases the battery management system may initiate a controlled shut-down of the vehicle for safety reasons, in order to avoid damage to the high-voltage battery or other components. Please advise the customer to hand over the vehicle for repair with a high-voltage battery charge level of about 20-25%, if possible. Background: If a battery module has to be replaced, the charge level of the new module has to be adjusted to the charge level of the already fitted modules with a module balancer. On the affected vehicle at least a potentially faulty high-voltage battery module is replaced.
