Non-functional A/C, No Dealer Support or VW Info, supposedly on multiple models

  • Hi everyone,

First off, apologies for writing in English.

I was scheduled to pick up a new ID.3 GTX at the end of June. The car has been sitting at the dealer since around June 23rd, but unfortunately, the air conditioning system doesn’t work at all—no cooling, just hot air, regardless of the settings.

What’s more frustrating is that there are no error codes or diagnostic information available. The dealer has been trying to resolve the issue for the past three weeks, but with no success or progress (they tried to change the cooling gas). According to them, there’s been complete silence from the VW importer in Czechia. I find the importer’s handling of this situation quite disappointing.

I’ve also been told that two newly arrived ID.4s at the same dealership are experiencing the exact same problem, which makes me think this could be a broader issue affecting multiple cars.

The dealer has actually asked me to check if other owners have encountered anything similar, since they have no further information and can only tell me to “wait” for the importer—who hasn’t responded in weeks.

If anyone here has experienced something similar, or has any insight into what could be causing the issue (or how to fix it), I’d greatly appreciate your input.

    Thanks in advance!
    Matej

  • Hallo,
schau mal hier: hier klicken (Anzeige). Dort findet man vieles zum VW ID.

  • Alright. My company ID.4 (with heat pump) was handed over in the Autostadt to a service provider who delivered it to my door. That was in July 2024. The AC was not working and there was a warning on the dashboard. It took 3 dealer visits to get it resolved. There are multiple possibilities for potential leakage of CO2. IIRC TeslaBjörn had the same problem with a press car directly from VW. Several colleagues of mine had similar experiences.

The fix is not refilling CO2 but disassembling the system and find the leakage. For my car it took a full week.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately they just refilled the CO2 and delivered the car just to get the A/C error the next day. I've asked about the leaks and they said it's very hard to identify them as that is a completely new system to them and cannot be checked the same way as old A/C systems. I have a feeling my car will be with the dealer for long time.
